Goat Simulator Takes a Stance Against Putin

Goat Simulator Takes a Stance Against Putin

Coffee Stain Studios initially released Goat Simulator as a joke. However, they released an update today that takes a stance against Vladimir Putin’s opposition to LGBTQ rights. Patch 1.1 includes a new area called the Put-In Hotel (get it?). This hotel is thoroughly decorated with pride flags.

A representative from Coffee Stain Studios explained the company’s goals to Polygon. “We really wanted to piss Putin off, and if he ever plays the game, I hope he’ll see it,” a representative told Polygon. “We also wanted to make good use of the fact that we have hundreds of thousands of people playing our game that might usually not be interested in this kind of stuff, and reach them in a way they never expected.”

For a game that began as a joke, Goat Simulator quickly took an admirable political stance. I’m not sure that Putin will ever play the game, or if he’s even heard of it; however, I don’t doubt he would be pissed off.
