Google Doodles are great. There are fun static images, entertaining animated scenes, and of course the occasional game. For Halloween 2016, Google decided to go with a treat, rather than a trick. By clicking on this year’s doodle, you can help a cat wizard clear ghosts from his school.
This Google Doodle is actually an innovative and endearing little browser game. Ghosts approach the kitty. You hold down the left mouse button while moving the mouse in a shape that matches the icon over each ghost’s head. It starts out simple. Ghosts will have one horizontal or vertical line above them. If more than one ghost is on-screen with that line, they’ll all be taken out with your attack. Eventually, lines get more complicated and ghosts even have multiple lines that must be executed in order.
There are even special ghosts! Some have unusual symbols, like lightning bolts, that cause a lightning spell to hit every ghost on-screen, regardless of their icons above their heads. Cat ghosts with hearts above them can restore the cat’s life. Boss ghosts need to have their sequences acted out multiple times. It really gets quite complicated!
