GRID Servers Shut Down

GRID Servers Shut Down

None

Back in 2008, before Forza 3, Gran Turismo 5, or the Need for Speed: Shift series, Race: Driver: GRID was a hot game. In fact it was almost as popular as the now-dead Project Gotham Racing series. But three years and dozens of racing games later, Race Driver: GRID just doesn’t have the speed it used to. Now, it’s not even playable online anymore.

Codemasters revealed that the decision to bring down the GRID servers came from a meeting during which third-party contract companies declined to re-up contracts that would keep the game online. However, there is a bit of a silver lining here. Though the PC and PlayStation 3 servers have already been deactivated, the Xbox 360 servers are still online. Will this stay the case for very long? We don’t know, but if you are a GRID fan and an Xbox 360 owner, at least you have one place to play online. For now.
