Halo Making Next-Gen Plans?

Halo Making Next-Gen Plans?

None

Job listings have become a surprisingly reliable means for intuiting a company’s otherwise hidden plans. It’s revealed to us the first non-Witcher project from CDProjekt RED and provided hints that Sony was planning a new God of War game before Ascension was unveiled to the masses.

Now, it’s Microsoft’s turn at the wheel, with a listing from 343 Industries for a Graphics Developer. What would said Graphics Developer’s responsibilities entail?

Well, he or she would be working on the “current and next generation of game visuals in the Halo universe.”

Current and next generation, eh? Perhaps the new Halo trilogy will span multiple hardware generations, just like its forebear. But, perhaps they simply mean the next Halo engine, and not necessarily the next generation of hardware. The listing, though, specifies that they desire an experienced graphics developer because they’re looking to “deliver cutting edge graphics technologies.” The cutting edge, as I understand it now, is already ahead of what the current generation of hardware is seemingly capable of producing.
