Although its release has been dubious, Microsoft reasserted that the Halo movie is still in the works and will eventually find its way to theaters. Microsoft’s Halo franchise development director, Frank O’ Connor, said the following to The New York Videogame Critics Circle. “There will be a Halo movie. We don’t need a movie. But we’d like a movie. We’d like the moms of gamers to see the movies because they would love our characters. Maybe we’ll even fund it ourselves.”  O’ Connor even discussed the possibility of a television series, although he was likely speaking hypothetically. “We’d love to see Halo as a television series…Look what HBO did with Band of Brothers or even Rome. Something like that would work because the Halo universe is so vast.” There is currently no projected date for the Halo movie. Originally slated to be directed by Peter Jackson, the first attempt at the movie failed and resources allocated to the Halo film were used to film District 9. We hope, for fans of the famous franchise, this time the movie efforts come to fruition. |
