“Heroes of the Dorm” Tournament Returning to ESPN2

“Heroes of the Dorm” Tournament Returning to ESPN2

Blizzard Activision hosted a Heroes of the Storm tournament last year for college-aged contestants, cheekily called “Heroes of the Dorm.” The finals were aired live on ESPN2 and apparently it went so well that they’re doing it again this year! This is just one among many games (primarily MOBAs) that are rapidly attracting a larger viewership and establish eSports as a serious, money-making spectacle. Not only will the finals be aired on ESPN2, but you can even fill out a winners bracket similar to what you’ll find for fantasy football leagues.

Heroes of the Dorm will kick off on March 19 with the Round of 64. Here the competition will be narrowed down, and narrowed further through The Rounds of 32, 16, and 8, all of which will broadcast on Twitch, YouTube, and ESPN3. When it all comes down to the Heroic Four on April 9, and that’s when the competition will be held in front of a live audience and broadcast on ESPN 2. The Grand Finals take place the following day, and will air on ESPN2 and on the WatchESPN app. There are some great prizes and plenty of scholarship money on the line, so if you’d like to form your own team you can do so by heading to the Heroes of the Dorm site ; registration is open until February 18.
