Blizzard and Facebook Team Up For New Streaming Service

Blizzard and Facebook Team Up For New Streaming Service

Blizzard is taking over the world. With top-grossing games in almost every popular genre and an active player base well over a hundred million strong engaging in its games on a near-daily basis, Blizzard continues to blaze new trails and find new ways to get people talking about its games. Hearthstone is one of the most live-streamed games in the world, Heroes of the Storm has been featured on ESPN 2 during the Heroes of the Dorm tournament, and now a new partnership with Facebook is set to shine a spotlight on Blizzard’s most popular games within a social networking platform that boasts over 1.65 billion users.

Blizzard Executive Gio Hunt thinks Facebook can provide a perfect, accessible platform for players to engage with their friends while playing some of their favorite games. “Blizzard games are best when played with friends, so it’s important to us to provide our players with features and services that make it easy and fun to share their experiences with each other,” he said. “We’re working closely with Facebook on this integration for Overwatch, as well as our other games, and we look forward to sharing further details on our plans as development progresses.”

Next month, Facebook’s Live API will be integrated into all Blizzard games, including Overwatch , which will enable players to log in to their Facebook accounts to stream their favorite games or share their favorite moments. Now you don’t have to worry about being berated in the comments section of YouTube by total strangers – from now on, your friends and family will be doing all of the trash talking.
