HTC Contrives Live Vive Demos

HTC Contrives Live Vive Demos

If you’re like me, your Twitter feed and news aggregates are full of people talking about virtual reality. Some people say the Oculus Rift is the best, others think the HTC Vive is hot stuff, and I’m over here like, “Can I try, please?” I don’t have a world-class gaming computer or $1500 to spend to be a guinea pig, so I was wondering just how I might get one of these things strapped to my face to see what all the fuss is about. I figured that Oculus and HTC would both have their products available to demo at certain retailers at some point, but I hadn’t heard anything until now.

HTC is planning to roll out live Vive demos across the U.S. over the course of the year. This week initial demos will be held at the Microsoft Stores in New York, Washington, and Utah, with additional stores getting added to the lineup continually. By the end of the year demos will be set up across 30 Microsoft stores (which doesn’t sound like very many). GameStop is also getting in on the action, though I imagine it’d have to be a pretty big GameStop; the Vive requires a lot of space to set up. There are plans to set up a demo in 10 GameStop locations by mid-April, and to check out specific locations you can visit the official Vive website .
