Is Blizzard Revealing a New Diablo at BlizzCon?

Is Blizzard Revealing a New Diablo at BlizzCon?

Have you ever tossed a four-sided die playing Dungeons & Dragons or any other tabletop game? A four-sided die looks like a little pyramid. When you throw one, whichever number is printed at the base, closest to the table, is the number you rolled. That’s usually the case, anyway.

A few sharp BlizzCon 2016 ticket-holders noticed something peculiar in their goody bags. The bags came with a sack full of Diablo themed polygonal dice. Cool! Some Diablo themed dice for our spooky late-night dungeon crawling. Except the four-sided die, or “D4,” is pretty much unusable. When you cast the die and it lands on “1,” the 1 isn’t printed on all three sides of the base. One side has a 4 printed instead.

Since this is true of all the D4s that came with the BlizzCon goody bags, fans suspect that it’s a hint of some kind. Here we have a D4, inside of a Diablo -themed sack, which is misprinted to read “1-1-4.” November 4, I’ll remind you, is the day that BlizzCon kicks off. Is this Blizzard telling us that a new Diablo is on the horizon? As Eurogamer points out, recent tweets from Diablo vets like David Brevik and Bill Roper seem to indicate that this may be more than a fan theory.

We’re less than three weeks away from BlizzCon at this point, so we’ll all find out the truth very soon.
