Kongregate Removed from Android Marketplace

Kongregate Removed from Android Marketplace

None

Kongregate, a website for free-to-play, browser-based games, released an app for Android Marketplace just last week. This app allows players to play over 300 of Kongregate’s games on their cell phones, and was on its way to becoming an instant hit. However, just one day after the release of this app, it was removed by Google from Android Marketplace.

Apparently, Kongregate violated the Android Market Developer Distribution Agreement by creating an app that is used to download and install other apps. The actual wording on the agreement is as follows: “You may not use the Market to distribute or make available any Product whose primary purpose is to facilitate the distribution of Products outside of the Market.”

If you want to play Kongregate games on your cell phone, there is some good news: Kongregate still offers the app on their own website.
