Game delays are always a sad thing, but hopefully this Lego Marvel’s Avengers announcement won’t hit you too hard. The game was supposed to be released this year, but it turns out we won’t see it until 2016. Not the best Gamescom announcement, but we’ll grin and bear it.
Warner Bros. and TT Games didn’t offer a reason for why Lego Marvel’s Avengers was pushed back to January 2016. Instead, the companies chose to show off more of the characters that will be appearing in the game. Squirrel Girl, seen above, is one of the new members of the cast, as well as the Jane Foster version of Thor, the Kamala Khan version of Ms. Marvel, Bruce Banner, the Hulk, and Speed.
The Lego Marvel’s Avengers delay couldn’t be due to a desire to release it at the same time as Avengers: Age of Ultron ‘s DVD and Blu-ray release. That’s happening this year. The only possible explanation is that Warner Bros. already saw Lego Jurassic World released, has Lego Dimensions coming September 27, and didn’t want another game cluttering up the lineup.
See you in 2016, Squirrel Girl!
