The “Zul’Gurub Plague” incident: In September 2005, a debuff called “Corrupted Blood” was unintentionally spread outside the raid instance, Zul’Gurub. It caused significant damage and could be transmitted to other players and NPCs. This event unintentionally created a virtual epidemic and chaos within the game world. The disease would automatically end when the raid boss died or when the raid all died, but the developers didn’t count on Hunter’s pet carrying the disease. So unsuspecting hunters would hearth back to a capital city, taking their pet with them. The pet would then spread the disease around the city.
