Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos Premise
Warcraft III puts players in the world of Azeroth and follows three main characters: Arthas Menethil, Thrall, and Tyrande Whisperwind. Each character has its own storyline and arc, along with interconnected plotlines. While knowing Warcraft I and II is beneficial, it is not required to play this game.
Players are introduced to the first storyline with Thrall, the Warchief. He awakes from a nightmare and meets with a prophet to discuss. He is told to go to Kalimdor along with the other orcs to meet their destiny. Upon arrival, they meet Darkspear Trolls but are quickly captured by a group of witch-worshipping Murlocs. The story then shifts focus to Prince Arthas, who is putting an end to a plague ravishing his lands. Arthas finds the source of the plague and, to end things once and for all, uses the cursed blade Frostmourne, stopping the plague but turning him into a Death Knight. During these events, Tyrande desperately needs help to save her homeland from the Orcs and Humans at war.

These events can be seen in Blizzard’s most popular game World of Warcraft, which takes place four years after the events of Warcraft III.
