Lucina, Robin, and Captain Falcon Announced for Smash

In a live streamed trailer today, Nintendo announced three more characters for the new Smash Brothers . The first is an oldy but a goody. Captain Falcon has finally been confirmed to be returning to the Smash ring. It appears as if he has all the moves that he used to have, right down to the Falcon Punch. Nothing new here except one cinematic flip kick in a trailer. It’s possible this is a new up-tilt but likely Falcon’s gameplay won’t be changing much.

The next character up is Lucina, the daughter of Chrom from Fire Emblem: Awakening . As it stands, it looks like her moves are basically a straight clone of Marth’s, from dancing blade to dolphin slash right down to all of her A button normals. This has led many of us to believe that she will be a Marth costume, or at best a clone.

The final entrant is Robin, otherwise known as the player character from Fire Emblem: Awakening . Robin uses both a sword and tomes in combat. His/her (yes you can play as the female version) tomes seem to have limited uses and varying strengths. However, the elements used always seem to correspond to an attack. Fire is an overhead projectile, thunder is a straight projectile, wind is a downward projectile that blasts Robin upward, and dark is a multi-hit life drainer. This has lead many to believe that these elements correspond to B button attacks. However, it’s also possible to unequip a tome and instead use a powerful Levin Sword for physical attacks. The exact way how these possibly random tomes work is unclear.

It’s also worth noting that Chrom, father of Lucina, will appear to assist Robin in his final smash.
