Mass Effect: Andromeda is coming out next year, which means more and more information is trickling out. In fact, we now know about the first new alien race. They’re called the Kett, and you probably aren’t going to want to get to know these guys. Joel MacMillan, BioWare’s art director, shared an official video on Game Informer that shows off this enemy you’ll encounter.
MacMillan offers plenty of tidbits about Mass Effect: Andromeda’ s Kett in the video. They look somewhat similar to both the Protheans and Turian, in that there are protuberances on their body and they seem to have some sort of natural armor. They’re bipedal, with feat that resemble Quarians and Turians, but hands similar to humans’. Also, while they’re going to be among your enemies, MacMillain notes, “You still want to be able to empathize with these guys.”
I really like the look of the Kett. They’re similar to creatures we already know, but just different enough to be distinct and suggest a different evolutionary process. I do find it a bit odd that they seem to have more fingers than toes, but it might be something we’ll get used to.
