Mass Effect Takes A Risk This Fall

Mass Effect Takes A Risk This Fall

In a move that follows in the footsteps of Metal Gear Solid, BioWare is working with Hasbro Games to bring out a Mass Effect themed version of Risk. The popular game of world-conquering strategy has seen many iterations over the years, from simple reskins of the core game to versions such as Godstorm and 2210 A.D., which have introduced new territories and rule changes. Legacy has been extremely popular as of late, introducing permanent changes to the game each time it is played.

But there is a long tradition of franchised Risk editions as well, stretching back much further than Mass Effect and Metal Gear Solid. There have been multiple Star Wars editions, versions for Lord of the Rings, Transformers, and Halo. There was even a Narnia edition in 2006. As of yet, there are no details on what sorts of changes will be made to the Mass Effect edition of the game, but it has been deemed the “Galaxy at War Edition,” indicating some parity with Mass Effect 3 and its multiplayer mode. Odds are the Reapers will make an appearance. We’ll find out for sure when the game comes out this Fall.
