Metroid Prime Series Not Dead; DS Offering Coming?

None

According to an Official Nintendo Magazine interview with Nintendo’s Kensuke Tanabe, the Metroid Prime franchise may not be as dead as fans once thought.

At E3 2009, the trailer for Metroid Other M for Wii seemed to be the death knell for the Metroid Prime series. Because Prime seemed to be nicely concluded as a trilogy and the fact that Nintendo was obviously going in a more old-school direction with Other M on Wii, it was assumed that Metroid Prime was no longer relevant.

However, Tanabe, who oversaw Retro Studios’ development of the Prime trilogy, pointed out to ONM that the series could find a home on DS and DSi: “We are always planning to make new games in the Metroid Prime series. Depending on the timing and the situation, we cannot deny the possibility of realising it on DS or DSi.”
