Microsoft Buys Twisted Pixel

None

I think it’s safe to say that Bill Gates owns just about everything I know and love. My PC? Gates owns it. My Xbox 360? Gates owns it. My soul? Gates owns it. (I should have probably read through the Terms of Service for Windows Media Player before clicking “accept.”)

Now Bill Gates owns another one of my favorite things, the indie hit ‘Splosion Man, as Microsoft has just bought indie developer Twisted Pixel. Phil Spencer, corporate vice president at Microsoft Studios, had this to say in a recent press release:

Twisted Pixel has an incredible track record of delivering innovative, critically acclaimed, and most importantly, fun, games. Microsoft Studios is home to cutting-edge entertainment experiences, and the incredible creativity of the Twisted Pixel team will help drive further innovation around Kinect and Xbox LIVE.

Michael Wilford, co-founder and chief executive officer of Twisted Pixel is equally as excited. His words on the matter:

It is really exciting for us to solidify our long-standing relationship with Microsoft Studios, who we consider to be the leader in digital distribution and creating new innovations in gaming like Xbox LIVE and Kinect. As part of the family of Microsoft Studios we look forward to bringing even bigger and richer experiences to Xbox and Twisted Pixel fans around the world.

For the record, Twisted Pixel also developed The Gunstringer, a Kinect game about zombie cowboy puppets. In fact, I think just about any game can be made better by the phrase “zombie cowboy puppets.”
