Paired with Pokémon HeartGold, the two games sold an impressive 8.4 million units in their first year alone and have been praised for their expansion of content and features. Pokemon SoulSilver Premise

The plot of Pokémon SoulSilver is similar in many ways to the story of Pokémon Silver, with only minor changes. The player gets to choose between two playable characters, Ethan or Lyra. As either Ethan or Lyra, the player embarks on an exciting adventure across the Johto region, fighting in various gyms and eventually the Pokémon League. Silver, the main villain in the game, shows disdain for Team Rocket and vows to take them over, believing them to be weak. Silver will battle the player many times throughout the game, not because of malice, but to prove he is a good trainer. By the end of the game, the player defeats Team Rocket, breaking up their leaders, and enters the Hall of Fame.
Pokemon SoulSilver Main Characters

In Pokémon SoulSilver, the player encounters many new allies and foes. In such an incredibly expansive world, it is essential to know the different characters as they offer much to the story and make the game much more fulfilling.
Professor Elm: Professor Elm is the Pokémon professor of New Bark Town of the Johto Region. He is responsible for giving the player their first starter Pokémon. Silver steals one of his starters at the beginning of the game.
Silver: Silver takes on the role of the villain. He vows to destroy Team Rocket, believing them to be weak. Silver abuses his Pokémon, lacks empathy, and has trouble accepting defeat in battle.
Elite Four: Regarded as the most challenging trainers, players must collect all eight gym badges in their region. The Elite Four seen in Pokémon SoulSilver are Will, Koga, Bruno, and Karen. Each trainer specializes in different Pokémon. After beating the Elite Four, the player enters into the final battle with Lance.
Lance: The reigning Pokémon champion, Lance is a tough trainer who is the final person to battle in the game. Lance helps the player battle Team Rocket earlier in the game and thanks them for their help in ending their plans.
