Pokemon X Cheats & Cheat Codes for Nintendo 3DS

Pokemon X is a 2013 RPG developed by Game Freak, and published by The Pokemon Company and Nintendo. Alongside Pokemon Y, the game kicked off the Generation VI of the legendary Pokemon franchise, bringing 3D graphics to the series for the very first time. Releasing on the Nintendo 3DS meant Pokemon X could take massive technical steps forward, and the series continues to reap the benefits of that work today.

Pokemon X Premise

If you’ve played any Pokemon game, you know what to expect in Pokemon X.

Pokemon X very much follows the established formula of the Pokemon games. It begins with your character at the beginning of their journey, where they must choose a starter Pokemon to accompany them on their journey. The adventure of becoming a Pokemon Master begins as they leave home for the first time and travel to the Kalos region, which draws inspiration from France.

If you’ve played any Pokemon game in the past, you’ll know the general gameplay loop in Pokemon X. You move from city to city, collecting gym badges by beating the leaders until you have the full set. In between, you’ll encounter wild Pokemon you can catch to upgrade your team while leveling up the ones you already have. It culminates in the final battle with the Elite Four, where victory makes you are the new Champion of Kalos. It’s standard fare for Pokemon games, but gamers continue to embrace the formula.

Despite the similarities to the other games in the series, Pokemon X still has plenty of new content to offer players. As the first game released in Generation VI, it introduced 72 new species of Pokemon and brought in Fairy-types to the series. You can also customize your character for the first time, which players wanted for years. The final massive new feature is the introduction of Mega Evolutions, which allow you to further evolve 30 formerly fully-evolved Pokemon, giving them a massive buff in power. Ultimately the new mechanics found in Pokemon X are about giving the series more depth, which is always a welcome addition.

Pokemon X Main Characters

Despite not usually being the main attraction, every Pokemon game has an underlying narrative that runs throughout the game, guiding you from one place to the next. Pokemon X does little to deviate from this, but it does have its own brilliant cast of characters that you’ll encounter throughout. These are the most important ones you should know before playing Pokemon X.

Pokemon X’s Key Cast

  • The Protagonist: The main character of Pokemon X starts in their small town with big dreams of becoming a Pokemon Master. You choose whether the protagonist is a boy or a girl, but it makes little difference to the story. Over time, the protagonist becomes a much stronger Pokemon trainer and eventually challenges the Elite Four for the title of Champion of Kalos.
  • Professor Sycamore: Professor Sycamore is the Pokemon professor for the Kalos region, and the individual who sets you off on your journey at the beginning of the game. He assigns you your Pokedex, and gives you the choice of your starter Pokemon. While you won’t see Professor Sycamore in the late game, he’s a crucial part of the game’s opening.
  • Tierno: Tierno is both your friend and main rival in Pokemon X. His journey begins at the same time as your own, and he chases his goal of making a team made up only of dancing Pokemon, with the most amazing dance moves. You’ll battle Tierno a few times across the game’s story, which is a great way to track how you’re both progressing as Pokemon trainers.
  • Lysandre: Lysandre is the main antagonist of Pokemon X, serving as the boss of Team Flare. His goal is simple: to wipe out the world’s population, returning the planet to a beautiful state. Alongside your journey to becoming a Pokemon Master, you’ll spend a lot of time foiling Lysandre’s evil plans along the way through a series of high-stakes battles.

Pokemon X Titles in the Series

The Pokemon series is still a household name.

If you have even a passing interest in video games, you know just what Pokemon is. Since its 1996 debut, it has established itself as one of the biggest names in the medium, and at this point, it’s a massive surprise when the Pokemon franchise doesn’t release multiple games in a single year. Remarkably, the sales for Pokemon are higher than ever, showing just how strong the brand remains after all this time. You shouldn’t expect Pokemon to go anywhere anytime soon, with the games and the anime proving to be unshakeable.

We’ve got you covered if you wanted to know every single Pokemon game out there – spinoffs included.

Pokemon X Cheat Codes

You’ll need to dust off the Action Replay for Pokemon X cheat codes.

Classic cheat codes were a lot rarer to come across in Nintendo DS and 3DS games, and that meant that most players turned to third-party Action Replay cartridges in order to get ahead in their favorite portable titles. Pokemon X is no different. The only way to cheat in the game is by buying an Action Replay, and we’ve got all the codes you need to enter into it to be able to cheat.

Pokemon X Cheat Code FAQs

Can I Use The Action Replay Cheats on a Pokemon X Emulator?

Yes! The Action Replay Cheats we’ve shown here can be entered in Citra, which is the leading Nintendo 3DS emulator.

However, the process for using them isn’t quite as simple as using an Action Replay, so we’d recommend sticking to the 3DS on this occasion. It demands a lot of playing with files that many players won’t find worth the time.

Can These Pokemon X Cheats Ruin My Game?

When entering these Pokemon X cheats into your Action Replay, it’s crucial that you do it right. Doing it wrong can corrupt your save game, which is obviously frustrating for any player.

So technically yes, they can ruin your game if you’re not careful. As long as you do it right though, you should have no issue.

Can I Still Trade Online With Pokemon X Cheats?

Yes. Even if you have cheated your Pokemon all the way to level 100, you’ll still be able to trade with other players online. This has always been the case with Pokemon games. Ultimately, players aren’t using these cheated Pokemon to battle other players – it’s a single-player game, and Game Freak doesn’t particularly care how players choose to progress.

Do These Cheats Work on Pokemon Y?

As Pokemon X and Y are sibling games, you’ll notice that these cheats do actually work for both titles. So no matter which version of the game you choose to pick up, you can be safe knowing that the cheats shown above will work for the two.
