Microsoft Offering Microsoft Points To Dedicated Halo Players

Xbox LIVE Rewards members can now earn Microsoft Points simply for playing their favorite sci-fi first-person shooter, as long as said first-person shooter is Halo 4.

Microsoft’s new rewards program will keep track of how much time you spend in multiplayer and pitch some cash to people who spend the most time on a couch with a controller in their hands. Spending more than 35 hours in Halo 4 multiplayer will get you 100 Microsoft Points, or slightly more than a dollar. Spending more than 70 hours will get you 300 Microsoft points, a little less than four dollars. Finally, if you manage to play more than 140 hours, you will be rewarded with a hefty 600 Microsoft Points, or seven and a half dollars. There is only one catch, though. You have to rack up these hours before November ends. So, to reach the highest tier you have to play approximately six hours a day. In order to get $7.50.

Not to rain on your parade, but minimum wage is way better than that.

In addition to the bonuses for play time, you can also get extra money for straight-out spending money. If you purchase 1,500 points of Halo content, you’ll get 100 MS points, and you’ll get 200 MS points each time you spend 3,000 points on content. However, you can only redeem, at maximum, 800 points, or ten dollars, from these offers, and it would literally take spending 12,000 points or a hundred and fifty dollars to reach that cap.

In short, if you spend six hours a day, seven days a week, playing Halo 4, and spend a hundred and fifty dollars on the game. You will get $17.50 back. Woo, time to reap the rewards!
