Rumors have resurfaced concerning Microsoft allegedly tendering an offer to purchase Take-Two Interactive. Take-Two has claimed that there are other interested parties outside of EA, and Microsoft keeps cropping up as a likely candidate. However, according to Art Green of Endsight, this is highly unlikely. In his article, Green quotes Shane Kim of Microsoft as saying Microsoft “could never launch an acquisition bid at a third party publisher,” because of Take-Two’s “platform agnostic” approach. The $2.5 billion acquisition of Take-Two doesn’t look so rosy when you eliminate over half the revenue stream. Nevertheless, we thought we should keep you apprised of the industry gossip. |
