Because of the recent Sony hack-pocalyspe, other companies are erring on the side of caution in all possible security-violating scenarios. If you’ve ever played a Call of Duty game online, you know that you’ll probably be harassed with messages that promise special levels, free points, or early access to map packs in exchange for your credit card information. Most sensible people ignore these.  However, just in case you thought those scams were real, Microsoft has put out an alert to all Xbox Live members and has cautioned users against responding to suspicious messages. We could file this one under “common sense,” but in light of recent events, it is a good reminder about Internet safety. |
