Sea of Thieves Launch Plagued by Server Problems

Sea of Thieves Launch Plagued by Server Problems

Sea of Thieves , Rare and Microsoft’s online, multiplayer, pirate extravaganza, is out. And people seem pretty excited about it. But, a lot of people also can’t play it yet. Sea of Thieves players are running into a variety of error messages when trying to log into the game’s servers, and Rare is doing everything it can to address the problem. Recently, this even extended to preventing access to certain players outright.

The error messages in Sea of Thieves are part of the game’s silly kayfabe, generally being notified to players as different types of beards. Of course, that doesn’t explain what the problem is, but it’s not hard to figure out it’s the volume of players trying to get on all at the same time. To alleviate the strain on players already getting into the game, Rare announced via the official Sea of Thieves Twitter than for the time being, new players will not be able to join the game.

The Sea of Thieves account later tweeted that the team is still working on the issues, but it’s not clear if new players are able to join again or not yet. Even if the servers are back open, that’s still a pretty drastic measure taken in order to sort things out! Either way, if you’re a Sea of Thieves hopeful but still having issues, keep checking in to the Twitter page for the most recent updates.
