While we did get a tease for a brand new, next-gen adventure featuring everyone’s favorite tomb raider, an upcoming top-down release featuring Ms. Croft also looks quite interesting!
Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris will once again depart from the traditional gameplay, instead continuing the linage of digital releases like Guardian of Light . Crystal Dynamics Producer Scot Amos tells us more (via the PlayStation.Blog) about how this co-op experience will pit you against your friends, rather than having you set out on a traditional solo trek. “…we continue this tradition by making Temple of Osiris our first-ever four player co-op experience with Lara! This is a unique opportunity to cooperate with or compete against your friends in drop-in and drop-out co-op to earn bigger rewards, better treasures, and more powerful artifacts to boost your character. But how you play is up to you. Will you share the wealth, or will you sacrifice your friends for more loot and a higher score?” says Amos.
Guardian of Light was a big hit, and ‘ Osiris doesn’t look to reinvent the wheel. However, even though they’re using the previous release as a stepping stone, the powerful next-gen consoles do provide a distinct advantage. “…leveraging our next-gen engine and the power of the PlayStation 4,” he states “we deliver truly stunning environments and visual effects as well as four-player co-op action. You can see the incredible attention to detail and the passion the Crystal team pours into every facet, effect, and texture – pushing the art of digital games.”
