Mortal Kombat X Has Microtransactions

Mortal Kombat X , the recently released installment of the Mortal Kombat franchise, has been invaded by something scarier than demons from Outworld: microtransactions. Luckily, it doesn’t seem like these microtransactions are harming anyone. They don’t let anyone pay for power, persay, but do they do allow you to pay for gore, specifically by paying for easy fatalities.

A few weeks ago we reported on Mortal Kombat X’s easy fatality system. You get a certain amount of easy fatalty stocks which allow you to execute fatalities without putting in the complex inputs. It’s a lot like the easy fatality cheat code from the SNES era of the game.

Your stocks are limited and to earn more you can complete the game’s single-player modes, but now it appears you can also pay real life money for them as well. Five easy fatalities will cost 99 cents while 30 easy fatalities will cost five dollars.

Or, you know, you can just learn the inputs.

In addition, you can pay twenty dollars to unlock everything in the Krypt. The Krypt includes new costumes, new fatalities, and basically new aesthetic add-ons that don’t really change the way the game is played, but enhance the gameplay experience. They are the primary unlock for single-player, but if you just want to be done with them, dropping a twenty will do it as well.

As far as microtransactions go, these are definitely some of the less offensive implementations we have seen. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
