Alright guys, pop quiz. Let’s see how many of you could be AAA video game developers. It’s 2016 and you have a fighting game that you released in April of last year. You’ve released some paid DLC but your fans who paid for the game back in April are still waiting for the second batch of characters you’ve promised them through the season pass. You could just go ahead and release that second DLC pack, but there’s another high-profile fighting game, a competitor, that’s about to release a brand new game that people are excited about. What do you do?
The answer, of course, is to re-release your year-old game with all of the content (including the second DLC pack) at a reduced price. That’s what NetherRealm Studios is doing with Mortal Kombat X. Mortal Kombat XL has been announced and it’s the same core game, but with all of the additional DLC – including the currently unreleased Kombat Pack 2 – and enhanced netcode for online play. Some of the new additions to the roster include Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the Xenomorph from Alien, and Triborg, and Bo’Rai Cho. The komplete package can be yours on March 1, unless you’re playing Mortal Kombat X on PC. PC players are out of luck, it seems.
