This Thursday is a holiday of sorts for Nintendo fans. We have a new Nintendo Direct on the way, and it’s a big one. Not big in the sense that we’ll be getting some huge reveals, in fact, Nintendo’s site makes a point to emphasize that there will be no news concerning the NX or Nintendo’s future mobile titles.
This Direct feels significant for a few reasons. For starters, this is the first Direct since the tragic passing of Satoru Iwata. Typically it was Iwata’s friendly countenance that would greet gamers for each direct; we’re not sure who’s at the helm now that he’s gone, but Nintendo has stated that Directs are a part of Iwata’s legacy, and something that it wants to continue in his absence. This will also be the first time that Nintendo has sent out a broadcast since its controversial E3 showing. Needless to say, that was a bit of disappointment for fans, and with Star Fox Zero ’s unfortunate delay, I’m wondering how Nintendo might rally to get us excited for the holidays.
