New “Opt -Out” Setting for Blizzard’s RealID

New “Opt -Out” Setting for Blizzard’s RealID

None

The RealID system unveiled earlier this year by Blizzard required users to have their real name (as presented on their original Battle.Net account) associated with all forum postings. This wasn’t a very popular feature, as forum users very often appreciate the anonymity afforded them by Internet forums. Fortunately, Blizzard announced today that users will be able to opt-out of the RealID system by accessing their privacy settings through their Battle.Net profile. Users who opt out of the RealID system will still be able to use the Battle.Net forums under their chosen username, and will not be penalized for changing their privacy settings.
