Blizzard Is Altering Overwatch’s Tracer

Blizzard Is Altering Overwatch’s Tracer

If you feel like games shouldn’t have content removed when a few people complain, then you’re not going to like this news. Overwatch is getting another cosmetic change. Jeff Kaplan, a Director with Blizzard, responded to criticisms concerning the victory pose of the Tracer character in the Battle.net forums.

The long and short of it is, people didn’t like a pose where Tracer looks confidently over her shoulder after a win. Some said it looked like she was presenting, or that it was inconsistent with her character. They said such poses were fine for D.va and Widowmaker, but didn’t fit for Tracer.

Kaplan came to the thread and said Tracer’s pose would be removed and replaced. He said, “We’ll replace the pose. We want *everyone* to feel strong and heroic in our community. The last thing we want to do is make someone feel uncomfortable, under-appreciated or misrepresented. Apologies and we’ll continue to try to do better.

I honestly don’t see what the big deal was. It isn’t an overly sexual pose. It just seemed confident to me. But, if Blizzard thought it was a big enough issue to take into consideration and act on, that’s their priority.
