New SkyDrive App Coming to Xbox One

New SkyDrive App Coming to Xbox One

It’s clear to see that with the shift in digital entertainment, our gaming consoles are more like “media consoles.” Gone are the days of simply relying on them for gaming, as the new SkyDrive app clearly proves.

On Xbox Wire, Dan Somrack (SkyDrive Program Manager) touts how the new app will incorporate all your personal photos and videos into your new next-gen console, “We are excited to announce that we are bringing your photos and videos to your TV through Xbox One, starting on November 22 when Xbox One becomes available. SkyDrive on Xbox One provides a seamless, beautiful experience for you to kick back and enjoy photos and videos in your own personal collection, or those shared with you,” he said.

The app will take advantage of many of the features found in the Xbox One, including voice command and gesturing via the upgraded Kinect technology. Also, you can easily integrate your images in a slide show with the combined functionality of Xbox Music.

Also, the app will integrate with other Microsoft technology (like the Windows Phone) and sync to your console. Somrack says, “Every photo I take with my Windows Phone gets automatically uploaded to SkyDrive, so after a day of taking pictures, I can just turn on the TV and show them to my family. I don’t have to think about it or find a cord. It just works great.”

The Xbox One will launch on November 22nd .
