Last weekend at EVO, the creators of Soul Calibur had their very own panel to show off all the new features of the upcoming game. They finally put some rumors to rest and confirmed some other features that fans have been speculating about. First of all, this will be the first SoulCalibur to feature a Super Meter. The meter has four sections, and fills up when you give or take damage. Each section enables different moves, with cinematic supers being enabled if you fill the meter all the way. You can actually fill the meter twice. When the meter fills once, your meter number increases to 1, and the meter starts filling again. If you fill the bar again, the number increases to 2 and the meter stops filling. Instant kill Critical Finishes make a reappearance in the game, but they seem to be easier to trigger. Life-bars start flashing simply as you gain momentum in the game. In fact, it seems as if the Critical Finish is something more akin to stun from the Street Fighter series. Many matches have put characters in range, though none were landed over the course of the panel.
Overall, it’s looking to be a real solid game. |
