New Valkyrie Profile in the Works

New Valkyrie Profile in the Works

Valkyrie Profile was one of the best PS1 games, and it’s now one of the rarest; If you want to experience this game for yourself, expect to pay well over $100. One of the reasons the game (and this series as a whole) has become so popular is its incredibly deep combat system, which assigns members of your party to the face buttons on your controller. Each can be called up to three times to perform various attacks and juggles with other party members for various effects. Once combat in Valkyrie Profile opened up the possibilities seemed limitless, and this game solidified tri-Ace as one of the most innovative developers out there.

Ever since the original we’ve been waiting for a worthy successor, which is why the ears of JRPG fans everywhere pricked up this morning. Square Enix revealed through a Japanese teaser site that it’s working on a new Valkyrie Profile. The game is called Valkyrie Anatomia: The Origin , and is supposedly due out this spring in Japan. The fact that we know so little, have zero footage to work with, and the game is due out so soon makes me believe that this is probably a mobile game, but I’m hoping otherwise. I’ll be looking into it either way, but a Valkyrie Profile on 3DS or Vita would really make my summer.
