Nicalis Bringing Ikaruga to Nintendo Switch

Nicalis Bringing Ikaruga to Nintendo Switch

Nicalis, publisher of games such as The Binding of Isaac and Cave Story , has announced that it is bringing the Treasure-developed, Dreamcast and GameCube classic shooter, Ikaruga , to the Nintendo Switch later this month.

For those unfamiliar, Ikaruga is one of the more high-profile shooters in Treasure’s library. It landed in arcades in 2001 first, but due to being localized on both Dreamcast and Gamecube, it was able to garner a larger international fanbase than many of its peers. The central gimmick is a color-changing button, that allows the player ship to absorb enemy fire in addition to the usual dodging.

The Switch version of Ikaruga is fully-featured, with all five stages, and a local co-op mode. It has multiple modes of play, and even has a vertical mode, which the Switch can natively support thanks to its portability and detachable controllers.

Ikaruga will launch on the Switch eShop on May 29, and will cost $14.99. Eurogamer also reminds us a German ratings board listing appeared earlier in the year suggesting a PS4 port as well.
