Ninja Theory Showcases Dante’s Street Roots

Ninja Theory Showcases Dante’s Street Roots

None

One might recall that, as much attitude as Dante had in previous Devil May Cry games, his use of weaponry was always more skilled than not. Flamboyant and showy, yes, but always with a certain flair, and with some knowledge of proper techniques for his more traditional melee armaments, such as Yamato.

In Ninja Theory’s upcoming reboot of the demonic franchise, however, Dante’s fighting style is informed by his upbringing. Whereas Capcom’s original Dante was trained how to fight by his father, Sparda, Ninja Theory Dante has grown up on the streets, where demons have ceaselessly hunted him in a society that, ruled by those same demons, has done everything it can to oppress him. This Dante, they claim, fights in a less refined manner than the original.

This doesn’t mean that the game is without a proper combo system and the rewards that the series has traditionally doled out for properly utilizing it. In fact, Ninja Theory has added dynamic music to the mix, swelling and layering as one’s rank increases until, at the very top, screaming vocals pump the player full of adrenaline. DmC is slated for release next year on the PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360.
