Nintendo Launches Miiverse On PC And Smartphones

Want to keep up with what your Mii is doing while your Wii U is off? Well now you can!

Nintendo has just launched a browser-based version of Miiverse, the Wii U social network. The new app is compatible with all browsers and smartphones and will eventually allow you to use all of the Miiverse’s functionality, from discussions to doodles.

Currently, however, the functionality is limited to only viewing posts, not making them. Also, in an ironic turn of events, the browser-based Miiverse app is not compatible with the 3DS’s browser. Unfortunately, as Nintendo fans have been asking for a way to connect to Miiverse via their 3DS for a while now, but they’re going to have to wait a little longer.

Nintendo says that the 3DS’s edition of the Miiverse will be added to the handheld through a system update later this year. However, it will be far more than a simple browser compatibility patch. Instead, Miiverse will be handled via its very own 3DS app, which will allow users to access discussion areas specifically for 3DS games and other software.

There is currently an unofficial Miiverse Smartphone app called Miiverse Mobile on the Google Play store for Android users. iOS users are, unfortunately, still out of luck.
