The Nintendo DS has sold over 47 million units in the United States, making it the best-selling console the nation has ever seen. Yes, this even tops the PS2. However, these numbers are a bit generous on Nintendo’s behalf. The sales figures include every version of the DS, including the Lite and the DSi, as well as the original DS. Another factor to consider is that the Playstation 2 had boasted over fifty million units sold in all of North America by the end of 2008, but we don’t know how many of those were sold in the States.  Regardless, these sales figures are quite impressive for a handheld console, and Nintendo has every right to be proud of this milestone. |
