Kinect launched nearly a month ago, and Microsoft is proud to share the sales figures of their new peripheral. Microsoft stated that Kinect sold 2.5 million units during its first twenty-five days on the market. This figure is within Microsoft’s projections, who expect to sell a total of five-million units by the year’s close. Similarly, Nintendo had a lot to be thankful for, with stunning sales numbers for the week of Thanksgiving. Nintendo’s internal sales estimates revealed that during the week ending November 27, consumers picked up 900,000 DS units and 600,000 Wii consoles.  The sales surge for Nintendo’s products were likely influenced by the release of the Red Wii, which was a limited-edition version of the console celebrating Mario’s 25th year, as well as the orange and green DSi bundles which debuted on Black Friday. Sony, not to be outdone, revealed that the PlayStation Move sold 4.1 million units worldwide since its release in September. |
