Remember when we said Nippon Ichi may have been teasing games with their New Year’s card? Well that’s looking more and more likely, as Nippon Ichi president Sohei Nikawa said in an interview with 4Gamer (translated by Siliconera) that Nippon Ichi is looking to create “two or three masterpiece titles.”
“I apologize for not being able to share more details for now, but we’re currently preparing so we can release one title this summer and another this winter. Please look forward to it,” Niikawa continued.
Last year was the company’s 20 th anniversary and the Disgaea series’ 10 th anniversary, hence the release of Disgaea D2 . When Nippon Ichi says “masterpiece title” you would assume that they are referencing Disgaea , but since such a big Disgaea project just came out, they might be looking toward something different. Fans have said that the eyes in their New Year’s card look similar to the eyes of characters from Phantom Brave , so maybe Nippon Ichi is looking to expand on some of their spin-off strategy games? We will have to wait and see.
