Square Enix Celebrating SaGa Series 25th Anniversary

Square Enix Celebrating SaGa Series 25th Anniversary

Remember SaGa Frontier ? You probably don’t, but that’s OK. It was a cult classic game series, otherwise known as Final Fantasy Legend , that was never particularly Squaresoft (or Square-Enix’s) biggest IP. Nonetheless it has a small yet strong following that picks up every new SaGa release like clockwork.

Well these fans will be excited to hear that Square-Enix will be celebrating the SaGa series’ 25 th anniversary. In an interview with 4Gamer (translated by Siliconera), final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles creator Akitoshi Kawazu said that Square-Enix will likely be making a brand new SaGa, game announcement in 2014. Unfortunately he couldn’t reveal much more than that.

The last SaGa game was a re-release of SaGa 3 for the DS in 2011. While the series has seen play on platforms such as the PS1 and PS2, it has undoubtedly been more successful on handhelds. Perhaps we will see a brand new SaGa title for the 3DS?
