Notch Refuses To Port Minecraft To Windows 8

Mojang co-founder and Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson has said he won’t be certifying the sandbox building game for Windows 8.

“Got an email from microsoft, wanting to help ‘certify’ minecraft for win 8. I told them to stop trying to ruin the pc as an open platform,” he stated on Twitter.

“I’d rather have minecraft not run on win 8 at all than to play along. Maybe we can convince a few people not to switch to win 8 that way,” Persson added.

Notch, of course, isn’t the only developer who has expressed their dissatisfaction with the forthcoming operating system.

Valve co-founder Gabe Newell had said a few months ago that Windows 8 will turn out to be “a catastrophe” for those working in the PC space.
