Apparently Notch Is The Second Most Influential Person On Earth

Every year, Time Magazine asks its readers to rank the top 100 most influential people in the world, and this year, a gaming icon has taken the runner up position. Markus “Notch” Persson, the creator of Minecraft, is, apparently, the second most influential person in the world—behind Mohamed Morsi, president of Egypt.

Notch currently has 148,687 votes and only 16,766 votes against. Compare that to Morsi who has 171,249 votes for him and 219,928 against. Kim Doctom, founder of Megaupload, takes up the third place position and is actively encouraging people to vote for Notch instead.

Peter Jackson, Pope Francis, and Kim Jong-un also made the list, but no other figures in the gaming industry were named.

The voting has been closed and the final list will be released to the public on April 18 th .

Congratulations, Notch. If anyone deserves this prestigious honor, it is you.
