Marvel’s next-big blockbuster in their “Phase 2” roll-out comes in the form of Guardians of the Galaxy due in theaters this August. Now we get a behind the scenes peek from the set of the film!
The folks over at SuperHeroHype were invited to see the production and received new insight into both the film-making process and the characters which will be introduced in just a few short weeks. Star Chris Pratt was on hand (who plays the title role of Star Lord) and gave his thoughts on how his character’s origins guided his performance. “I think at this point he’s definitely more informed by who he was on Earth. The arc of the character is a very human arc. It’s really based on who he was and what was taken from him as a kid and something that he missed and lacks that he has to gain through the course of the movie, that’s definitely what we’re focusing on.” Said Pratt.
While comic fans will instantly recognize the entire cast, many of these characters are an unknown element to the general movie goer. However, Pratt feels this will lend itself to some advantages, comparing himself to another unknown named Han Solo (who would later go on to become a beloved fan-favorite). “I think it probably is helpful that people don’t know who he is…It makes it difficult if you’re trying to satisfy what people think they know about a character. The very first Star Wars didn’t have that problem because it was all brand new, you just take it for what it is. So what I’m saying is we’ll be better than Star Wars.” He jokes.
