Origin Integrates Twitchy Streaming

Origin Integrates Twitchy Streaming

Say what you will about the necessity, or lack thereof, of yet another download manager for you digital PC games. Despite lagging behind Steam in almost too many areas to count, Electronic Arts’ Origin service has now gained at least one thing Valve’s hyper-popular marketplace lacks: TwitchTV integration.

Through a partnership with Twitch, Origin will allow players to broadcast directly from the Origin client, connected to their Twitch channel. This removes the absolute necessity of broadcasting programs such as XSplit for streaming games, so long as those games are playable through Origin. It may lack the malleability of dedicated streaming tools, but it’s a really cool feature to see that does much to open up livestreaming to the masses who’ve maybe had the interest, but haven’t wanted to invest in the tools.

In similar news, Activision has also confirmed YouTube livestreaming integration for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 while Sony has announced TwitchTV support within Planetside 2.
