Origin Users Get The Ban Threat

Origin Users Get The Ban Threat

None

The Battlefield 3 open beta has been out for a short time now and the modding community has already sunk their teeth in. We are already seeing maps with altered rules and increased player caps, and you know what, they are pretty fun. Heck, there have even been instances of games that host over 100 players at once! So yeah, pretty cool right?

Wrong! Battlefield 3 developer DICE doesn’t seem to like premature modding of their beta. As a result, they are threatening to ban players that use these modded servers from Origin, EA’s download service that Battlefield 3 is hosted on. Get banned from Origin and you lose access to all the games you purchased on Origin. Simply put, it’s a sad day for you.

Now, DICE is trying to pass this off as a security issue. They gave us a big long spiel about how playing on these servers might compromise your password and personal information. Personally, I think they just don’t want people modding their game before it officially hits the shelves. Regardless, a full Origin ban on users that just want to play on servers with low gravity and infinite ammo is pretty harsh.
