If EA can get all of the bugs worked out, Battlefield 3 is shaping up to be one of this year’s top games. However, DICE’s Patrick Bach will probably end up eventually being ashamed of the title, but only because that’s how he feels about all of his past games. “I don’t know why, but I always feel ashamed about the games I’m involved in making,” Bach said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. “I can’t even bring myself to start up Battlefield Bad Company 2, our last game, because I feel so ashamed. I know it is a great product, but still I only see the things we could have done better.” Battlefield 3 went into beta testing this week and the excitement surrounding the game has only increased. Though, there has been a fair amount of skepticism, considering how many bugs were also included in the beta. For Bach, this type of negative buzz can cause a lot of anxiety. “I’m still extremely nervous, not about what other people will think, but about how I will feel about the game,” he said. “My biggest worry is that I will feel bad about the product. For me, my job is very personal.”
Strangely enough, it looks like PC players will not be able to participate in the tournament. Signups are currently only open for PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers, but most of the competition’s details won’t be released until early 2012. So, keep your fingers crossed and hope that Patrick Bach doesn’t feel bad about this too. By Josh Engen |
