PAYDAY Expands Today

PAYDAY Expands Today

None

Getting a bit tired of co-op shooter PAYDAY: The Heist? Perhaps today’s update can do something to reinvigorate your experience and keep you coming back for more. Introducing new masks, including presidential faces for those who reach level 145; a new mode called OVERKILL 145+ that challenges those who have already reached the level cap with new events, achievements, weapons and leaderboards; and the ability to set servers for drop-in gaming, such that others can join mid-heist, it feels as though today’s update is less a patch and more a minor expansion.

That isn’t to say there aren’t quality-of-life enhancements as well. SWAT teams will employ new tactics and countermeasures, animations have been expanded and enhanced, PC players can now have an expanded field of view, and there’s a special “DIAMOND HEIST” music track, which includes shout-outs from the DJ to 200 of the most dedicated members of PAYDAY’s PC community.

Of course, the game is still limited to the same six heists, so if you’re bored of those by now, the update is unlikely to provide anything more than a minor breath of fresh air, but it’s always heartening to see a studio that gives so much back to its fans without asking for additional cash in exchange. The update should be live now, on both the PlayStation 3 and PC, as you read this.
