PSP2 Shown Off to Publishers?

PSP2 Shown Off to Publishers?

None

With the unveiling of Nintendo’s 3DS at this year’s E3, many have been expecting Sony to follow suit and give details about their follow-up to the PSP. While Sony continues to remain silent about the PSP2, Eurogamer is reporting having heard from three separate publishers that claim to have had a chance to take it for a spin behind closed doors.

According to the report, these three publishers have all confirmed that the system is roughly the same size as the PSP-3000, has a rich and detailed screen, and includes a “touch-sensitive area” on the back of the handheld. This “touch-sensitive area” is said to be on the opposite side as the screen, leaving many to question how it will be utilized. The sources differ in a potential release window for the system, with one source claiming it will come before the end of 2011 and the other insisting it might be a couple of years away. It was also said that the new PSP wouldn’t make use of discs, thanks to developer feedback. Of course, Sony responded that they don’t “comment on rumor and speculation,” so for now, this is all just a rumor. We’ll let you know if we hear more.
