Sea of Thieves developers Rare have recently released a blog post making it clear that they intend to meet players needs as much as possible. They’ve listed out a number of major concerns from the community that they either plan to work on, or are already making changes to. Let’s take a look at what those are.
First off is cheating. Rare recognizes that a small amount of users are taking advantage of programs or game client changes to cheat. They are taking a no-nonsense approach to these players and have planned disciplinary action in place for them. These include permanent Xbox Live account bans on the far end of the spectrum.
Next up is brig abuse. Sea of Thieves players have been putting others in the brig just to sequester them away from their friends or chosen shipmates. Rare is planning to integrate a system that will allow players to set their ships to either public or private. This will give them the option to invite just their friends, or to bring anyone on board. This should mitigate the reasons for players being unfairly shuttered in the brig.
Another big problem is finding players who speak the same language as you. Sea of Thieves will soon have a change to its matchmaking system that will prioritize players with mics together, and players without together. There will also be an option in the future to filter by language, allowing you to match up with other players that you can understand.
Sea of Thieves also has a problem with ships respawning too close to their original attackers. The team has doubled the distance at which ships will respawn so that you don’t have to constantly battle the same one.
