Razer’s Blade Welcomes Maxed-Out Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2

None

Perhaps you heard Razer’s announcement that, come August 26, they would show you the future of PC gaming, the saving grace of what had once been thought a dying medium. And it’s true, PC gaming has faded as consoles have caught up, touting smoother online capabilities and greater ease of use (plus better-optimized software).

Today, Razer has revealed the Blade, which they have deemed the first “true gaming laptop.” The tech specs are certainly impressive, with a powerful Intel processor and Nvidia graphics chip, eight GB of RAM and a number of unique quality of life features (multi-touch touch panel/LCD screen offset to the side, OLED macro keys above it, a la their special edition The Old Republic keyboard.) And all this is packed into less than seven pounds of computer around an inch thick.

What is most telling, however, is the laptop’s proclaimed capabilities. When the Blade launches, says Razer, it will be able to play Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2 with maxed-out settings. Crysis 2 is a demanding game, to be sure, but Battlefield 3 isn’t even out yet and, already, hand-crafted gaming rigs are groaning in pain at its destructible environments, lifelike animation and hyper-detailed graphics. Battlefield 3 is the game that is slated to set the bar for gaming graphics in the year(s) to come, and Razer is saying that their laptop will be able to handle it full-on, no problem.

The only question that remains: is that sort of power, on the go, worth $2,800 to you?
